I've been super jumpy lately, but I think that's because I've been doing super quiet things like reading and cleaning. Anyway, I finished the potter book like everyone else. No, I'm not going to spoil it. I just want to comment about some of the larger characteristics. About halfway through, it struck me how Western this book is. Damn my memory, I can't give you specific examples, but I remember about halfway through the book, I remember thinking about how she described the battles and the war against Voldemort in general. I think how we, the readers, anticipate the descriptions is partially what I'm talking about, and how she, the author, satiates these anticipations with "accurate descriptions" of warfare. To me, who does what, how the battle is fought, what it feels like to be in battle, and the fact the battle rages as it does is in the Western tradition (the tradition of mechanization of WWI and WWII, which have completely changed the way the world fights war and is steeped in not only the physical west, but Western ideas about life). Hmmm. I'm leaving it there.
Also, I did it.
About 4 or 5 months ago, I said I wanted to learn how to dj, and here I am, finally with all the equipment and some music, trying to make it work. Anyone want to give/trade for some LP's? I need more of those. I have loads of ideas and am determined to not let machines completely take over my music. The machine is only as good as the musician.
